BUILDING PERMIT INFORMATION



AFTER THE FACT PERMIT (starting building without a permit) Triple the permit fee and possible enforcement action

Fees are rounded down to the whole dollar
Permits will not be issued or projects scheduled for review, until fees are paid
Functional space includes basements/ attics but only when being finished and accessed by a fixed stairway

Instructions for All Permit Applications:
Complete signed permit application
Obtain valid E-911 address
Install required signage
Correct map & lot number
Enclose appropriate fee
Include drawings of proposed structure with all dimensions
Show proposed use of area
Include Site Plan that shows entire parcel with lot lines, roads with sidelines, right of way with sidelines, existing structure, location of proposed construction, and magnetic north.
Include plumbing permit if applicable
Plumbing permit needed when:
An installation or alteration of subsurface wastewater disposal system
An installation or alteration of plumbing system
Addition of one or more bathrooms
Instruction for Shore Land Zone Applications:
Complete shore land zone section of application
Slopes 20% apply only to proposed building site, not in general
If application is not signed by owner, attach letter of authorization
Include a cross sectional drawing that shows max. height of structure above the grade, all proposed/existing driveways, parking areas and other non-vegetated surfaces
Include a site plan identifying water body or wetland, show setback from high water line or upland edge of wetland, soil/erosion control plan and any activity such as filling or grading to complete such a plan
